Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)Laser Treatment

Advanced, Minimally Invasive Relief for HS

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition known for painful lumps, recurring flare-ups, and tunnels beneath the skin. These symptoms often begin when hair follicles become blocked, leading to ongoing inflammation and discomfort.

At Front Door MedSpa®, we provide real solutions for men’s intimate health, including a modern, minimally invasive approach to managing HS using advanced medical-grade laser technology. Our approach for patients in Chesterfield, Waterford, and Shelby Townshipfocuses on calming inflammation, reducing hair in problem areas, and removing damaged tissue so your skin can heal more comfortably and predictably over time.

If HS has affected your confidence, mobility, or daily comfort, our team is here to offer supportive, science-forward care in a welcoming environment trusted across Rochester, Auburn Hills, and surrounding communities.

How Laser Therapy Helps HS

HS is fueled by inflammation around hair follicles and the development of chronic tunnels under the skin. Laser therapy works by gently targeting the areas tied to these repeated flare-ups.

At Front Door MedSpa®, we use a two-step laser approach that can help:

  • Reduce hair in HS-prone areas
  • Calm inflammation below the surface
  • Smooth and soften areas of chronic thickening
  • Minimize the recurrence of painful flare-ups
  • Support healthier healing over time

Patients often appreciate that laser therapy offers a meaningful, non-surgical option while still addressing the deeper causes of the condition.

The Types of Lasers We Use

Front Door Medspa uses a combination of two lasers; one to remove hair to prevent the cycle of clogged follicles and inflammation, and one that is non-ablative to remove damaged tissue, helping the skin heal naturally. We combine these two laser treatments to support clearer, healthier skin:

1. Hair-Reduction Laser (Nd:YAG 1064 nm and 755nm)

This laser targets the hair follicles most commonly involved in HS blockages. Over time, it helps reduce the cycle of follicular inflammation that leads to new lumps and flare-ups. Treatments are spaced several weeks apart, and patients typically see improvement with a series of sessions.

2. Tissue-Refining (Non-Ablative) Laser

For areas with chronic scarring or tunnels, we use a precise non-ablative laser to treat damaged tissue and encourage healthier skin renewal. This approach is especially useful for small, isolated areas that repeatedly flare despite other therapies.

Non-ablative laser sessions are performed with local numbing for comfort, and healing occurs gradually over the following weeks.

What Recovery Looks Like

Most patients tolerate HS laser treatment extremely well.

After hair-removal sessions:

  • Mild redness or tenderness is common
  • You may return to normal activities the same day

After non-ablative sessions:

  • Expect some open-wound care as the area heals
  • Healing typically progresses over several weeks
  • Our team provides clear aftercare instructions to keep the area protected and comfortable

Is Laser Treatment Right for You?

Laser therapy may be a good fit if you are looking for:

  • A minimally invasive option for managing HS
  • Support between severe flare-ups
  • A complementary approach alongside your dermatologist’s care
  • A way to reduce the need for larger surgical excisions

Your provider will evaluate your symptoms, skin type, and treatment goals to create a tailored plan.
